From 2019, AL level dressage judge.
The SMAFC equestrian division began its operation in 1977 in the eastern wing of the Széchenyi Castle in Nagycenk, in the former stud farm. When the stud farm was established, there was already a need to cooperate with the University of Sopron
for contact. Horses, equestrian equipment, the possibility of using riding tracks, and the work of qualified trainers were provided by the stud farm.
Originally, SMAFC founded an independent equestrian department for the equestrian training of forestry students. In the fall of 1977, the recruitment of students and riding lessons began. The members of the equestrian department were made up of three parts: on the one hand, the employees of the stud farm, on the other hand, the university students, and the third part, the residents of the area.
After the stud farm was closed, the operation was taken over by the then University of West Hungary (Sopron University) in 2013. The horses of the former stud farm remained, which did not pass the stallion test, but were suitable for horse training, so the horse training continued under the leadership of József Varga.
From 2018, the Eszterháza Cultural, Research and Festival Center Közhasznú Nonprofit Kft. took over the operation of the eastern wing of the castle, after which most of the horses were moved or sold, so equestrian education practically ceased in this form. After that, the remaining members of the SMAFC Equestrian division continued to compete and prepare for the competitions on their own horses, in an individual organization.
Previously, the SMAFC Equestrian division also organized an international dressage championship in 1993, as well as the MEDOSZ Cup, which was a college national dressage and show jumping championship. Every year since 2014, the Equestrian section organizes the round of the Győr-Moson-Sopron county championship in Nagycenk. In addition, it has organized several children's skill and jumping competitions over the years, and is also actively involved in the organization of training camps.
